Castle Hill Adventist modular education buildings

The funding package, which is an important part of the Federal Government economic stimulus package, will allow schools to engage in urgent maintenance and upgrade buildings and facilities.

Key points in the $14.7 billion package include:

  • $1.3 billion based on $200,000 per school available immediately for urgent maintenance and renewal work or building smaller projects.

  • $12.4 billion available on application to all 7,500 primary schools, special schools and K-12 schools in Australia for libraries, multi-purpose halls, indoor sports centres, classroom modernization or similar facilities. Preference given to community-shared facilities.

  • $1 billion for construction of science and language laboratories for 500 secondary schools that satisfy the criteria for needed upgraded facilities.

Every school will receive up to $200,000 immediately for urgent refurbishing.

These minor works will be completed within eight months, while the major infrastructure projects must be finished by June 2011.

The 500 new science and language laboratories will schools be built by June 2010.
